The organizational and management structure of the project is shown
in figure 1 and summarized in table
1. It is noted that we foresee the establishment of a steering
committee consisting of six persons, with a virtual seat at METU.
No one partner assumes primacy in dealing with any other. METU assumes
responsibility in performing much of the coordination and background
work. The General Directorate of Disaster Affairs will contribute
manpower from the Division of Earthquake Research that already operates
the national accelerometer system. The Scientific and Technical Research
Council of Turkey Information is represented by two entities: The
Marmara Research Center (MAM) and its Earth Sciences Unit as well
as the Technologies and Electronics Research Institute (BILTEN).
