This laboratory has all the equipment for standard soil testing as well as some sampling and field testing equipment. Apparatus such as triaxial shear with pore pressure measurement, direct shear, simple shear, unconfined compression, laboratory vane, and oedometers are available to carry out research at an advanced level. The Soil Mechanics Laboratory is at its early stage of development as regards to research in the areas of dynamic soil behaviour , machine foundations and earthquake engineering. The laboratories are actively used for teaching purposes.
